The Community Exchange Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of community life through the redistribution of useful resources that are no longer needed by their owners.

*WE DO NOT PUT OUT STAINED OR DIRTY ITEMS (CLOTHING, BABY GEAR, TOYS, ETC.) ON OUR SALES FLOOR. NEW CONSIGNORS: THAT MEANS ITEMS MUST BE IN LIKE-NEW CONDITION.*

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR ITEMS FOR SALE:

  • All toys and items MUST HAVE ALL their pieces or components and must work.
  • Use proper tags. If your tag is not sturdily attached, it can be ripped off by a customer on the sales floor or it can fall off from your item. Then we cannot pay you for that item.
  • NO WRINKLED CLOTHING. We do not hang clothing that contains wrinkles or is brought folded in a box.
  • All toys and items MUST HAVE ALL their pieces or components and must work.
  • NO COLORED OR WIRE HANGERS.
  • Battery-operated items must have working batteries in them.    Aldi on Quaker Road sells 8 high-quality AA batteries for $1.99, and dollar stores usually sell AA, 2 C or D batteries for $1.
  • Launder clothes and clean all toys. All items should be clean, smoke-free and in excellent condition.  Iron out wrinkles, shine shoes, snip off hanging strings, use a lint roller to remove pet hair, use tweezers to extract fuzz from Velcro, use a sweater shaver to remove pills…PRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING and is definitely worth your time. The Kids' Exchange reserves the right to remove items that fall beneath our sale's standards, and we do frequently remove items.
  • LOOK FOR STAINS ON CLOTHING & GEAR outdoors in the bright sunlight.
  • CLEAN SHOES including the soles!   Nobody buys dirty shoes—and we won’t put them out on the sales floor.
  • Small items like socks, tights, hats and hair accessories sell better and are best grouped together in a clear Ziploc bag.
  •
  • Newborn onesies/sleepers/gowns sell best clipped two or three to a pants hanger (we have pants hangers for you).
  • Pajamas: faded or worn out pj’s don’t sell and we won’t put them out.
  • Secure game boxes, puzzles, etc. with tape or rubber bands so the pieces don’t fall out.
  • Place loose pieces of toys or equipment in a clear Ziploc bag and attach/tape to main item. This is really important, especially for loose items like train tracks or balls.
  • Do not bring us items in open bins, cubbies, bags or containers.  Everything must be packaged so the pieces will not fall out.
  • THERE MUST BE NO STAINS ON BABY GEAR including swings, bouncers, etc.
  • Pak-n-plays and bassinets sell fast when they are set up fully on the sales floor.
  • Group books together in a Ziploc bag or hold them together with rubber bands.  If the books are large and you can sell them for $2.00 or more each, then you may sell them individually.
  • Group books together by type:  4 Dora books; 4 science books; 3 Baby Einstein books; 4 books with a Halloween theme; 5 Junie B. Jones books, etc.
  • USE ONLY CLEAR TAPE on your items and price tags.  No duct or masking tape allowed!
  • Get creative with your presentation!  For example, package car-themed books in a Ziploc with matchbox cars inside!
