The Community Exchange Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of community life through the redistribution and optimization of resources of value among individuals, families and organizations.

The Community Exchange Foundation facilitates the redistribution and recirculation of value. We search for inactive resources of value in the community, tangible as well as intangible, and optimize their utility by reconnecting them with citizens, groups or projects that will benefit from their use.  By keeping items of value in circulation, and by identifying areas in which the talents of our citizens can be exercised, we reduce waste and enhance the overall well-being of the community.

This very process of reconnection often simultaneously generates secondary resources that we further redistribute in order to improve community life on additional levels.

Our current project, The Kids’ Exchange

Epitomizes the mission of The Community Exchange Foundation because this one single event maximizes value, optimizes the utility of resources and improves community life on six levels:

  • It connects high-quality, no-longer-used children’s items with the very people that need them and are looking for them;

  • It redistributes resources to consignors;

  • It keeps items out of landfills and reduces waste and consumption;

  • It provides a new opportunity for volunteers to exercise their talents and strengths;

  • It donates unsold merchandise to charity; and

  • It redistributes additional funds to us that we will further circulate elsewhere to other charitable causes in the form of grants and donations.
